The Sacred City Derby Girls (SCDG) is a women's flat track roller derby (WFTDA) league based in Sacramento, California. Founded in 2006, the league currently consists of two competitive travel teams that play in WFTDA sanctioned bouts across California in the Western Region, and occasionally nationally: The Sacrificers and The Disciples; and three recently formed home teams created from a mix of Sacrificers, Disciples, and unrostered skaters: The Donna Party, Midtown Maulies, and The Roseville TrainWreckers. Currently ranked 7th in the Western Region, the primary goal of Sacred and its A Team, the Sacrificers, is to compete aggressively with other WFTDA roller derby teams and to achieve the highest possible ranking. The league was founded in late 2006〔"(About )", Sacred City Derby Girls〕 by some former members of the Sac City Rollers.〔"Hot rollers: Freewheeling roller derby competitors want their pastime to get really serious", ''Sacramento Bee'', 2 May 2008〕 In October 2007, Sacred was accepted as a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA),〔"(Sacred City Derby Girls )", Flat Track Stats〕 and in 2010 it hosted the WFTDA Western Regional Tournament.〔Marc McLaughlin, "(Sacred City Derby Girls to host "Rollin' on the River" )", ''Sacramento Press'', 20 September 2010〕 Seeded tenth for the tournament, the league took ninth place.〔 By 2010, the league was attracting an average of 850 fans to its intraleague bouts.〔 For the 2011 WFTDA Westerns, Sacred City was seeded seventh, and were able to take seventh place.〔 ==References== 〔
